Barking Bulletin Part 2: The One Where It All Got… BUSIER
Just when we thought life had settled… along came Spud.
Now, when we say “a bundle of mischief and joy,” what we actually mean is a four-legged whirlwind with ears, zero sense of personal space, and a talent for chaos that should probably be on TV. Spud wasn’t exactly planned, he just sort of… happened. Like most great (and slightly questionable) life decisions.
But here’s the spooky bit…
From day one, Spud had Polly energy. Same quirks. Same looks. Same “I’m in charge here, thanks” attitude. It genuinely felt like Polly had clocked out… had a quick cup of tea… and come straight back in a smaller, bouncier, more chaotic form.
No complaints though, we’d take that deal every time.
Now picture this:
Three Springer Spaniels.
All intelligent.
All energetic.
All permanently starving.
Training them? A dream.
Feeding them? A full-time job.
Keeping snacks healthy AND affordable? Nearly impossible.
And that’s when it hit us…
That little seed planted from Polly’s legacy? Yeah, it started growing. Fast.
What began as “we just want better treats for our dogs” quickly turned into:
researching
testing
more testing
even more testing (the dogs insisted)
And just like that… Polly’s Natural Nibbles was born.
Naming it? Easiest decision ever.
We asked the kids, expecting debates, arguments, possibly a dramatic walkout…
Nope. Unanimous. Instant.
“It has to be Polly.”
And honestly? They were right.
Spud may be the face of the brand now, our official Chief Brand Ambassador, Head of Mischief, and Professional Snack Hoover, but Polly is the heart behind it all.
Of course, Spud doesn’t work alone. Oh no.
Introducing:
The Mutley Crew™ (also known as Luna, Fudge & Spud)
Their job?
Quality control.
Their method?
Eat everything. Immediately. No questions asked.
Nothing and we mean NOTHING, makes it onto our shelves without their full, drool-covered approval.
Now, just when things couldn’t get any more lively…
Spud started making friends.
And by “friends,” we mean Luna.
And by “friends,” we really mean… well… let’s just say Fudge took on the role of permanently unimpressed auntie, watching the whole situation unfold like:
“Honestly… I leave you two alone for five minutes…”
Fast forward a little…
BOOM.
Seven puppies.
SEVEN.
Tiny. Noisy. Adorable. Absolute chaos gremlins.
The summer of 2022 turned our home into a full-blown puppy nightclub, no sleep, constant snacks, and a level of energy that should honestly be illegal.
Fudge? Still unimpressed.
The puppies? Living their best lives.
Us? Running on caffeine and love.
Eventually, all seven little troublemakers found amazing homes, and the pack returned to some version of normal (a very loose definition of the word).
But something interesting happened during all that madness…
We started noticing things.
Yes, puppies will try to eat everything, socks, furniture, your dignity…
But when it came to food?
They chose natural. Every time.
Given the option, they went for raw, natural treats over processed dry food without hesitation. No marketing. No fancy packaging. Just instinct.
And that got us thinking…
Maybe dogs know better than we give them credit for.
And just like that, another idea was born:
Real food
Natural feeding
As close to nature as possible
But that’s a whole other chapter…
Because just as life was calming down…
We made the fatal mistake of going to IKEA on a Saturday.
(Yes, we know. Rookie error.)
Halfway through debating whether we really needed more storage boxes, the phone rang…
Panic.
Urgency.
Slight chaos in the background.
“Oh no… LUNA’S IN HEAT AGAIN!!”
And just like that…
Round two was loading.
